Yes but honestly Nick are too scared of action cartoons. Just be grateful it’s being released at all. We won’t have to worry about it on tv like we did with Welcome to the Wayne and Rise of the TMNT 2012.
I am so glad this deal between Nick and Netflix is a thing now. I really don't trust Nick to air all the episodes of their shows. They have never been good at that. If a show isn't popular right away it is a matter of chance if the whole series airs on TV at all. Netflix for all their problems will give you every episode made. I hope it works out and the deal means lots of new shows and specials.
I just finished the first episode - it was a great two-parter. I like the "Man in Black" inspired premise of this show and it has a great fight scenes.
Also I really like Miko and her energetic personality, she's now my favorite character. Five is a really fun character, Mitch was kind of jerk, but he's (at least for this moment) alright-ish.
Time to watch the rest of the first season!
EDIT:
I'll just rate all episodes from this season:
Ep 1 - 8/10
Ep 2 - 7/10
Ep 3 - 9/10
Ep 4 - 8/10
Ep 5 - 9/10
Ep 6 - 7,5/10
Ep 7 - 10/10
Ep 8 - 7/10
Ep 9 - 9/10
As I watch this show it becames more of the "Glitch of the week" type of a show, but kudos for some homeage for Thundercats in episode 4 and Castlevania parody game in episode 5. And sometimes this show not only has the "MiB" premise but also has some Teen Titans 2003 vibes, I mean it's kinda like an anime since the characters do some funny faces from time to time.
Great show, I can't wait for the part 2 of the first season . 8/10
Fun fact: This show came out 15 years after the release of Avatar: The Last Airbender, thus making it the second action series aired on the 21st of February.
Here's a list of the first nine episodes of Glitch Techs:
Episode 1 - Age of Hinobi: A tournament for the city's best gamers brings together High Five and Miko, two competitors who figure out something suspect is going on.
Episode 2 - Tutorial Mode: Glitch Tech training turns out to be a bore. But Miko and High Five's attempt to inject some fun into their session ends with gross consequences.
Episode 3 - Going, Going, Gauntlet!: It's Miko and High Five's first official day on the job! But crisis soon strikes when Miko's high-tech gear gets stolen by a peculiar bird.
Episode 4 - Smashozaurs: When an ultra-rare, ultra-dangerous glitch turns Casino into a character from his favorite video game, it's up to High Five to save him.
Episode 5 - Castle Crawl: Miko and High Five arrive at a house where other Glitch Techs have gone missing — and walk right into a familiar game full of surprises.
Episode 6 - Alpha Leader: What makes a good leader? High Five finds out the hard way when he steps up to head a team against four glitches that are on the loose.
Episode 7 - Collection Quest: High Five and Bergy romp through the city on a quest for glitches and experience points. Meanwhile, it's sister bonding day for Miko and Nica.
Episode 8 - Adventures in Pet Training: To figure out a fix for an ailing Ally, Miko enters a pet training simulator. High Five tags along and makes an unlikely friend.
Episode 9 - Karate Trainer: Eager to level up her skills before a karate tournament, Lexi convinces Miko to fire up a video game simulator to help hone her moves.
Watched the first batch over the weekend and I thought the show was off to a good start. Loved the good balance of action and comedy, the Men in Black x Ghostbusters premise, the visuals and overall the feel of the show. It used its Glitch of the Week format to its advantage as it gradually introduced its side characters as it went along. I also appreciate how it didn't insert its video game references and homages in an overly obnoxious way.
I do wonder if they're ever gonna address how Hinobi got away with employing children 18 and under in their retail stores. More to the point, what kind of gaming competition offers a freaking retail job as the prize? That's just weird. The revelation that Hinobi is an evil corporation is inevitable due to the underage labor issue and the fact that they have memory wiping devices which have been used unethically. But just how evil are they? Who knows, but I'm sure it's directly tied to Bolypius, a painfully obvious reference to the Polybius urban legend. If this show is as predictable as I think it is, then Bolypius would be a game that glitched so bad it went rogue. I don't have too high hopes for the big plot's execution because I have this sinking feeling that this would be the type of show that handles episodic storytelling much better than serialized, but we'll just have to wait and see. So far I'm liking this show and I'm hoping they'll get to animating those unfinished 10 episodes stat.
Favorite episode: Castle Crawl (Extremely well-done Castlevania homage)
Least favorite episode: Alpha Leader (Boring premise that I've seen many times before)
I'm feeling a strong 7 to a light 8 on this episode batch.
I really like this show. While I don't like the outdated gamer slang ("like a boss" or "leet") some of the characters were using (pure cringe), I appreciate the video game easter eggs and references. It also has nice humor, good character development, and fast-paced action.
Got around to watching all of the episodes. It's a really fun show. I love hoe expressive the animation is. "Castle Crawl" is my favorite out of this first half. Hopefully Netflix orders more episodes from Nickelodeon.
It bugs me how when you say Looney Tunes, most people jump to the 50's Chuck Jones shorts as the default. I'm not trying to throw shade at Jones; he was great and the 50s LTs were great, but the 40's shorts shouldn't be overlooked; they're that much better IMO.
