During the Treat Yourself promo, they're playing Angelo Rules which never aired on CN Asia.

Oh, so that's why most of the promos are the same lately for CN UK and Nordic.

This sort of makes sense because, eventually, Malta might switch to CN Arabia due to its proximity to North Africa and due to the fact that both feeds are now run by the same team.

It maybe a possibility, however Malta is still somewhat culturally aligned with the UK because of the Commonwealth and time difference is only an hour, but as years go by, and the fact that UK's relationship with the EU is changing, this probably will be no longer the case. Why Malta had CN UK instead of CN Africa in the first place remains somewhat of a mystery, this isn't the case for Nick or Disney. Cyprus is also in a very similar situation, but its more suited to CN MENA because of the larger time difference with the UK.

How does that bode for CEE?

CEE is still under the German team, all three teams are approximately the same size now.

Honestly if Malta had CN Africa instead, it would be beneficial for its timezone, because even after the focus had switched to Africa, especially South Africa, the promos still displayed CET (I believe they changed to CAT around 2015). Not to mention that South Africa has the same timezone as CET as they don't observe daylight savings. Obviously they wouldn't stay with CN Africa and would make the switch to CN Arabia (aka CN First) in the summer of 2016 like what they did with Cyprus. It's amazing to see that what used to be a humongous feed has since become split in two: CN Arabia and CN Africa. Now even CN Africa is a shadow of censors and the only way to see Steven Universe and the like return is if e.tv aired the series, for example.

I finally realize why CN EMEA kept using GMT or CET rather than CAT: in Europe, CN had to share broadcasting time with TCM, so it was important to follow European times, even though there were only a few CET countries and even less GMT countries that got CN EMEA.

Africa had two separate 24h channels for CN and TCM. So twice a year the schedule of Cartoon Network changed one hour, no big deal for them.

It looks like they always had one shorter timeslot around 23:40. That timeslot got an hour longer on April 1st, 2004, when TCM gained an extra broadcasting hour.

As I said, CET timings were also important because a huge slab of Africa that is GMT +2 becomes GMT +1 as they don't obersve daylight savings, so from March to October the promos made more sense.
