"Netflix has recently broken the infamous live action anime adaptation curse. Both the adaptations of One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho have high critical and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes. It looks like Netflix is going to have a third go round with live action anime adaptations, this time based on the horror manga/anime series Parasyte.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Parasyte is about alien creatures that possess human bodies and eat the human bodies they don’t possess. The protagonist, Shinichi, somehow becomes bonded to one of the parasitic beings without losing his own autonomy. He ends up calling mutated right hand “Migi” (or righty in English) and uses his mutated alien hand to fight the parasitic body snatchers. The series is known for intense action action scenes and gruesome body horror and is not for the feint of heart, but also became somewhat of a cult favorite from it’s time airing on Toonami in 2015/2016."
