I'd say given the fact that they ran FLCL the way they did suggests they were just joking around...maybe they had certain shows in mind though. Who knows, maybe they took a foosball off the noggin when writting that card.

I think the theme that time was hypocritisism.

They're probably going to make a card telling everybody that it was a joke, and that we shouldn't take this stuff seriously. It is Adult Swim, they're like my next door neighbor, we're always playing around and stuff, saying things we don't mean.

Yeah, I think AS was talking more about something like La Blue Girl than something like Love Hina.

We love anime, but we have a few gripes.

Guys, you gotta bathe more often.

Girls, you are not sexy just because you're dressed like Ryoko.

And everyone, please buy more of the good stuff instead of the fan service nudie crap.

That's animated nudity.
C'mon.

Remember-
We say these things because we love you.

Does anyone else interpret this as a swipe at all that talk about a certain clamp show being bought for CN?

In a word, yes. It might very well be a shot at people like me who figured that if TechTV was outbid on said show, who else who get it but CN. However, it might just be a way of trying to rile us all up though. I mean, they ran Tenchi (abeit edited.) It that's not a fan servicey anime, I don't know what is. Granted, they also let their rights lapse on it as well. Hmmm....

Somebody in the AS community really needs to get a hold of Atkins or DeMarco and ask some questions, because the cards are a little too cryptic.

Why does everyone seem to treat Chobits like its hardcore pornography? Except for the one "pantsu" episode there is not a whole lot of fanservice. True, I dislike Clamp shows but it's not like we're even talking Love Hina levels of nudity. If anything, I think they were referring to shows like Najica Blitz Tactic or Agent Aika, not Chobits.

Cartoon Network fans don't want Agent Aika (TechTV's do :p ). They want Chobits. Williams Street's not-so-friendly way of telling them it ain't gonna happen.

I don't remember any nudity in Love Hina... just towels... lots of towels... of course, I haven't seen Chobits, so I have nothing to compare to, but...

Well, there is a shot of Motoko's butt in Episode 25, but that's it...

In what I've seen of Chobits, there is never full nudity, just implied nudity. A lot of it doesn't even come off as particularly sexual to the viewer. FLCL is arguably more sexual in tone than Chobits is in points. Chobits shoujo roots really offset the fan service, as does the various sci-fi nods.

The more I think about it though, the more I think WS is just trying to mess with us. They know we've been kicking around CN a possible licensor for Chobits, and regardless of whether they have it, either way it's a way getting us to further kick it around. Additionally, it might have been a shot at their own boards, which seems to get a regular stream of "run hentai!!!!!!!!!!!!!" threads, inspite of the FAQ.

Ack, you beat me to the punch on that one!

Anyway, congrats to Morgana on getting a card run. (Maybe they'll let you pick which one you can marry ;))

The one they posted for me looked like this:

Young girl with a bow.
Dog demon with some issues.
Inu Yasha time!

Minor gripe with the otherwise fine Yurikuma Arashi dub: "But also, we loved from the beginning as well." Using "also" and "as well" in the same sentence is redundant.
1 decade, 1 month and 1 fortnight ago, Shrek got a series of shorts titled New Shrek on DreamWorksTV.

Like the rest of Shrek, it has its fair share of memes, like a One Direction parody called Wrong Direction, an episode where he literally just burps Happy Birthday, a Freestyle Rap, and (from the very first second no less) of course:
Happy Father's Day!
