This has got to be the first gated community that I've been able to tunnel into. Maybe that's why it took two or so months before I was actually able to become a member...Snotty's bringing down the man...one step at a time

First Toonzone, then, uh...A SANDWICH!!!

I thought the Goz tribute was well done, but then again, I expected it to be. Good episode choice as well. Sealab won't be the same without the Goz. We'll miss ya bud *Snotty pours a little alcoholic beverage on the curb*...and drinks the rest

The Harry Goz tribute was well done. Does anyone know what the AS News segment said? My damn cable company dared to cut it off to local commercials. They will pay dearly.

It was also fitting they played "All That Jazz." That episode has some of the best voice acting and writing in the entire series. I especially love the WS characters running amuck at the end.

I'm very proud to be part of the gated community. And if the AS.com boards are an accurate representation of the minds of America, then I'm moving to Canada. Then again, they're young - they don't know any better.

I wonder if now because of that card mentioning TZ if a whole bunch of people from the ASMB and AS.com are going to begin to appear. And then every one will have to double the amount of threads displayed on the front page, just to sift through all the drek, "I love (blank) if you do too come here" type nonsense.

Uh oh...that would be the gated community mentality poking through on my part. Shame on me. Wait...shame on AS they called us snobs! (I think)

Well I am off for a spot of tea, a match of tennis, perhaps hit a few balls on the back nine, and then a six martini dinner. Cheers!

*walks off in pressed khaki shorts, tucked in blue polo shirt, sweater draped around neck, and impeccable square jaw looking down on everyone*

No, because otherwise they wouldn't have listed ASMB and AdultSwim.com as two seperate places. ¬¬‘

If we're a gated community, then that means we control what happens. For you see people who live in gated communities often have ties to political figures(in this case network exces) so technecly speaking we actualy control the flow of CN/Adultswim....meaning their jobs depend on who we like and who we don't...

Here I thought they only viewed the official AS. message boards.... So they can hear what we say.. If this gets mentioned on the cards, I'll faint or fall asleep, which ever comes first.

Remember the policy on edits that was recently instituted? That's why.

Now that I think of it, I had a minor confusion with John Miles about this. He said "AS Message Board" and myself and a few others thought he meant Adult Swim but he ment something else.

SO.

ASMB - site and board that has lots of vitriol on it (youngsters)
Toonzone - site that has lots of high-minded discussion (gated community)
AdultSwim.com - site that is the reason for those other two sites (America)

what was the harry Goz tributre like, was it jsut his name and years he lived thru? did they bother to mention that he was Murphy, so the non-fanboys out there knew who it was they were saluting?

Yup, they had a whole lineup of cards saying who he was, what he had done and what he meant to them.

I missed half of it, becaue I had gotten up to grab something and by the time I returned they were almost done, but I'm sure whoever is doing the cards this week will have them.

Cool, a new banner! Very nicely done! I'm so proud to be a member of Toonzone! :D

Oh, and I loved the tribute card to Harry Goz. I found it very sweet. Rest in peace, Captain.

Re: "Gated Community"

So that was either a compliment, or they were busting on us.

I've met in person a number of the staff at CN and have been told that they do appreciate Toon Zone, and a few of them told me they do read the forums fairly regularly.

And while I was thrilled to see TZ mentioned on AS, I just didn't see their review of us as a "gated community" as much of a compliment.

"Gated" has a negative connotation. It means (according to m-w.com): "to punish by confinement to a campus or dormitory"; to control by means of a gate."

To me, "Gated" implies that members aren't completely at liberty to discuss their opinions; that we (TZ staff) don't allow non-moderated open discussion. And while that is true to a certain extent, it's because we've always tried to keep TZ largely "family-friendly" to be more accessible to the public. But we aren't control freaks, by any means.

I have no idea what the official AS forums are like. Not having a working computer at home, I have to check my e-mail at the library and their computer network bars access to anything it sees as "chat"-related.

When did they show that? The only mention of Harry Goz I saw was at the end of Sealab, and there was only one card.

Pre Trigun-

(Vash Silohuette Appears)

Almost to the end.
Again.

Well technically it's the beginning
of the end.

The beginning to the beginning
of the end.

Starts right now.

[adult swim]

(Trigun Card Opening)

Trigun Mid Break One-

(Meryl Silohuette Appears)

Soul searching.

Why is there so much soul searching?

Why can't people just kill people?

Like Canderous in the Knights of
the Old Republic.

That game rocks.

[adult swim]

(Inuyasha Commerical)

Trigun Mid Break Two-

(Milly Silohette Appears)

Back for more?

Well that's going to work out.

Cause there's more,

Right now.

(wait for it, wait for it, now.)

[adult swim]

Post Trigun-

(Milly Silohuette Appears)

That's all for Trigun.

The last episode is tomorrow night.

Come back and check out.

Two words.
Lots of explosions.

Hmmmm.
Nice math.

[adult swim]

Pre Cowboy Bebop-

(Spike Silohuette Appears)

The Re-All Folk ba-lues

That's sort of how the ending
credits song sounds.
In that one part.

But this episode is in two parts.
And kicks ass.

(3 Spike Silohettes Float to the back of the screen then the front of the screen)

[adult swim]

Cowboy Bebop Mid Break One-

(Ed Silohuette in Background)

We don't know about you,

But there's only so many times
we'd get shot for a woman.

We don't care how hot she is.

Plus when you've got Faye
achin' for it...

[adult swim]

(Blue Gender Commerical)

Cowboy Bebop Mid Break Two-

(Jet Silohuette Appears)

That last card brings up the best
bathroom graffiti we've seen:

No matter how hot se is,
Somebody, somewhere,
is sick of her *****.

That's beautiful man.

[adult swim]

Post Cowboy Bebop-

(Faye Silouhette Appears)

That's all folks.

Come back tomorrow night.

Cause if you haven't seen the end
of this episode before...

You should.

Plus we'll get fired if no one
watches.

[adult swim]

(Adult Swim Music Credits)

And that's it. Whoo, one of my fastest times for these cards. Although this was a fairly easy week, made easier with no Brak News or moving Turd Racer cards. Well see you on Thursday (Friday) for the Viewer cards, and then next next Sunday (Monday) for the weekly cards. That is if there aren't any new cards this week.

So I take it you're not familiar with real life gated communities then? It's not intended to have a negative connotation; that just what they're really called.

That being said, it could go either way. Some people hate gated communities, and some people love them. Some people feel that the rules are far too strict and the neighborhood association are made up of control freaks (you must keep your yard tidy at all times, everything on the outside must be certain colors, etc.). While at the same time, others feel they're the perfect "family friendly" environment to live in run by people who are just looking out for everyone’s well-being. If you ask me, that's the perfect metaphor for TZ.

I REALLY HOPE Adult Swim puts an episode of American Dad before Sailor Moon on Toonami Rewind, CN's shows are NOT CAPABLE giving ratings by their sheer popularity.

I'm guessing since Charlie Adler is more of a voice director now, he's rarely done voice acting in shows where he's not the voice director. Like, shows like The Rocketeer and Spiderman 2017 are among the few recent projects where he's done voice acting without also being the voice director.
I am so happy about the Toonami Rewind block. I am so glad it finally happened.
Well, this is how the animated "Married with Children" looks like.
