I don't have any opinion on the transfer quality of the first DVDs, but the DVD format is capable of excellent 480p quality. If Disney isn't willing to pay for a quality transfer or for more discs with less compression, they're not going to pay for a Blu-ray transfer. And if they already don't...
WAY too much to hope. Look at what it's taking to do Star Trek: The Next Generation, another TV show from that era: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7439 Releasing TNG on Blu-ray is a huge undertaking. While the show was filmed in 35mm, it was then captured to tape where all the editing and...
Well, to be fair, Ed Liu already said his usual Disney channels don't know anything about it: https://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?288327&p=3922791#post3922791
Is sending a bunch of random emails the usual way to announce a DVD release?
Greg Weisman has been writing comics since the early-eighties and still does occasional one-shots and series, including issues for Marvel and Ape this year. Since Greg is a comic book writer, I can't imagine he's paid more than anyone else.

Weisman speaks!
26 episodes in the first season! It's already getting a bigger studio investment than Spectacular Spider-Man. And when Greg Weisman says it'll kick ass this early, it's something to get excited about. I'm curious what each of the 3 producers' roles ara.
I agree. I loved Teen Titans, but the comparisons are going to be inevitable. To me, the designs seem closer to the Timm/Diniverse. I hope it comes into its own.

And from the Newsarama article:

Ironically, Frank Paur was one of Greg Weisman's closest partners on Gargoyles. There are definitely some interesting dynamics going on.
If Disney XD wants Spectacular Spider-Man badly enough, I can't imagine that these goons are going to be able to stop them, especially since the merger hasn't even gone through yet. But are the ratings good enough that Disney XD is willing to fight for it? When Marvel counter-offers with The...
And it's promotion. They're trying to generate buzz for the new episodes starting again after weeks of repeats. They obviously consider TSS-M a commercial asset.
Here's a little more on Eisner's desire to buy Marvel according to Greg Weisman, who was a Disney producer and former executive at the time:

Of course with today's Kirby news and all the biggest heroes' film rights sold to Sony and Fox...
