If you thought we’d finally seen the last of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, you should’ve known better than to count out Adult Swim’s most famous set of fast food products. After making their first grand reappearance since 2015 in the direct-to-DVD feature film Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, Fry, Meatwad and Master Shake have landed a twelfth season of their television series. AS announced today the show will return next month.
ATHF has never really concerned itself with continuity or any sort of set rules, except for the fact that it always starts and ends in the Aqua Teens’ dumpy house, next to their dumpy neighbor. Anything’s possible, but here are some hints straight from the Swim:
“The new season picks up where we left off in 2015, as Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad have returned to solve all of life’s modern issues, and Carl returns because he can’t sell his crappy house because he lives next door to food. Look for your favorite trio of ‘detectives’ to go head-to-head with A.I. appliances, join an apocalyptic fitness cult, and search for friendship through ancient Egyptian pyramid schemes. In the end, all problems shall be solved, and all brains shall be melted.”
Original creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro are still here to guide the show, and the same voice actors — Carey Means as Frylock, Dana Snyder as Master Shake, and Willis as Meatwad and Carl — have returned. Other voices in this season include Eric Bauza, Brian Cox, Dan Fogler, Maurice LaMarche and Gary Anthony Williams.
Is anything different? Well, there’s this — Season 12 is just five episodes long. It will be over in about a month. Imagine being such a miser that you won’t open your pocketbook for more than five episodes of something like THIS. That’s our Zaslav!
