ABC Will Continue Airing “Peanuts” Holiday Specials Until 2020

ABC Television Network announced today that it has extended for the next 20 years its deal for the airing rights of the Charlie Brown Holiday Specials with Peanuts Worldwide LLC and Lee Mendelson Film Productions.

This deal, gives ABC Television Network the rights to air the Charlie Brown specials until 2020.

“We are thrilled that our 13 year association with ABC will now extended to 20 years.  The Network has shown us tremendous support from the start, including restoring the original length to our holiday shows.  Charlie Brown and Snoopy are dancing today!”  Said executive producer Lee Mendelson in a Press Release.

The “Peanuts” animated specials which include “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, “It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, and “Charlie Brown Christmas” first aired on television in 1965 and have been airing in ABC since December 2001.

The “Peanuts” characters and related property are owned by Peanuts Worldwide LLC a joint venture owned %80 by Iconix Brand Group INC, and %20 percent to the family of the creator of the franchise: Charles M. Schulz.
