TELETOON Announces September 2009 Programming Highlights

TELETOON has announced the programming highlights for the TELETOON network in September 2009. Four new series will be debuting in the fall: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the feature film and seasons 1 and 2 of the series), Majority Rules, Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5, and The Super Hero Squad Show, while 6TEEN will begin its final season and Total Drama Action will be running new episodes. Details about the TELETOON at Night schedule were also released, with the new programming block starting with Futurama at 9:00 followed by King of the Hill and American Dad.

SIX NEW SERIES FOR TELETOON THIS FALL
Fall Schedule Also Sees New Episodes for 18 Shows

Toronto – TELETOON welcomes four new series to the daytime schedule including Star Wars: The Clone Wars™ plus the new original production Majority Rules. Brand new episodes from nine returning or ongoing shows are added to the TELETOON schedule including the final season of 6TEEN. For older audiences the post 9 pm schedule for teens and adults welcome two new shows and new episodes of nine returning programmes. The daytime schedule on TELETOON appoints weekday evenings 6 pm to 9 pm as 3 Hours of Awesome with a selection of hit shows. Thursday evenings up the ante becoming 3 Hours of Really, Really, Really Awesome broadcasting new episodes with the premiere of new Majority Rules as well as brand new episodes from Total Drama Action and the final season of the phenomenally popular 6TEEN.

Comedy continues in Laugh Riot on Saturday mornings between 6am and I pm ET/PT with new episodes of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and Tom and Jerry Tales. Sunday mornings are still the place for adrenaline injected cartoons as Action Force welcomes two new series: The Super Hero Squad Show and Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5. Superfans can still get all the intergalactic action in the Superfan Friday this fall with season two of Star Wars: The Clone Wars joining the schedule.

Family films become a focus on TELETOON this fall with the launch of two dedicated daytime movie blocks. On Saturday evening The Big Ticket Movie brings high profile family films to viewers at 7 pm with titles including the Canadian premiere of the new live-action Scooby movie, Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins. Also for families, the Laugh Riot Movie serves family-sized giggles with feature-length comedy at 11 am. For teen and adult audiences, Thursday and Friday night see movie selections such as The Lord of the Rings air from 10 pm.

The battle for galactic freedom is coming to TELETOON Canada this fall when Lucasfilm Animation’s cutting-edge, computer-generated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars joins the schedule. Featuringfierce battles, intense storylines and elaborate animation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars follows Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda and the heroes of the Galactic Republic as they struggle to defend against the evil Separatist forces led by Count Dooku and General Grievous.

Majority Rules (Broadcast Premiere)

TELETOON‘s first Original Production to feature a mix of live action and animation, Majority Rules follows fifteen-year-old Becky Richards as her life is thrown upside down after she is elected to mayor of her hometown. A tween-targeted comedy drama, The show sees Becky try to balance friends, family, high school, relationships and politics all while running her town and her life on her own terms.

Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5 (Canadian Premiere)
Premieres: Sunday, September 13, 8 am
Regular Time: Sundays, 8 am as part of Action Force

Inspired by the popular toys and utilizing CGI animation, Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5 follows Vert Wheeler and his elite team of drivers as they use their armoured battle vehicles to protect the world from domination by two evil alien species, the Sark and Vandals. The aliens are after a BattleKey, a tool that will allow them to unlock a pathway to Earth and open the planet up to invasion. Known as The Battle Force 5, our heroes must use their weaponised super-vehicles to fight the aliens in unique inter-dimensional BattleZones to prevent a BattleKey from ever falling into enemy hands.

The Super Hero Squad Show (Canadian Premiere)

Building the strong roster of super hero shows on TELETOON, The Super Hero Squad Show arrives on Action Force and stars famous Marvel characters including Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron Man and Silver Surfer. Following the team of super heroes as they protect Super Hero City from VillainVille’s infamous criminals, The Super Hero Squad Show features the voice talents of Tom Kenny and Steve Blum along with guest stars such as Wayne Knight, LeVar Burton and Tricia Helfer.

After three exciting seasons it is time to say goodbye to the hit series 6TEEN. Nikki, Caitlin, Jonesy, Wyatt, Jude and Jen head back to the mall for one last round of romance, friendship, laughs and terrible bosses.

Johnny Test – New Season

A new season of Johnny Test sees the eleven year old continue to act as guinea pig for his twin sister’s experiments.

Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends – New Season
New Episodes: Saturdays, 7:30 am
Mac, Bloo and the gang are back for a third season of Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends. Set in a Victorian Mansion reserved for abandoned imaginary friends, the show follows the misadventures of eight-year-old Mac and his imaginary yet willful companion Bloo.

Tom and Jerry Tales – New Season
New Episodes: Saturdays, 8:30 am
The classic cat-and-mouse comedy team scrambles, slides and slams onto the screen in Tom and Jerry Tales featuring all-new animated shorts.

Jimmy Two Shoes
New Episodes: Thursdays, 6 pm
Along with his two best friends and his sunny disposition, Jimmy tries his best to lighten the mood of the inhabitants of Miseryville with mixed results in continuing new episodes of Jimmy Two Shoes.

Total Drama Action
New Episodes: Thursdays, 7:30 pm
Fairy tales, spy flicks and superhero movies are just some of the genres that inspire challenges in new episodes of Total Drama Action returning this fall.

Bakugan: New Vestroia
New Episodes: Sundays, 7 am
New episodes of the strategy and action show return to Action Force this fall. Dan and the brawlers continue to fight the Vestal people in order to free New Vestroia.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold
New Episodes: Sundays 9 am
Batman is joined by allies Black Canary, Aquaman and Katana in continuing new episodes of the popular series.

Ben 10: Alien Force
New Episodes: Sundays 10 am
15-year-old Ben is back and so are the evil Highbreed. Ben must rely on alien technology, the skills of his friends and a little luck if he wants to save the world in new episodes of Ben 10: Alien Force.

THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH TELETOON
THIS FALL

Toronto – Lightsabers at the ready as STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS™ brings the Force to TELETOON this fall. Saturday, September 5 marks the North American broadcast premiere of the 2008 STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS feature film with season one of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS – the cutting-edge, computer-generated TV series beginning the week of September 7. In addition, the highly-anticipated second season of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS premieres this fall as part of Superfan Friday with an evening dedicated to the “galaxy far, far away.”

STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Feature Film
STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS CG-animated feature has its North American broadcast premiere as the TELETOON Big Ticket Movie on Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm. The Galactic Republic is quickly being eroded by Separatists and their infinite droid army. As Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda fight on the front lines, leading the clone army in an effort to defeat the forces of the dark side, Anakin Skywalker and his new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, are sent on a crucial mission, the success of which might determine the ultimate outcome of the Clone Wars. The two come face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt as well the sinister agents of Count Dooku including the lithe and lethal Asajj Ventress.

STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS – Season One
In the signature style of Lucasfilm Animation,STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS follows Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda and the heroes of the Galactic Republic as they struggle to defend against the evil Separatist forces led by Count Dooku and General Grievous. Viewers can travel to a galaxy far, far away as season one of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airs at 5:30 pm Monday to Friday, beginning on Monday, September 7. After the season concludes on October 2, season one episodes will continue to air in Action Force every Sunday at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.

STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS – Season Two Premiere
STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS season two joins Superfan Friday later in the fall. Fierce battles, expanded storylines and elaborate animation raise the stakes higher than ever. The lives of the Jedi become more complex as secret and forbidden relationships are revealed and a new breed of villain enters to take advantage of the wartime turmoil. Season two introduces these lawless rogues into the fray along with a host of new characters, locations and creatures. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Star Wars universe, season two of The Clone Wars is bigger, bolder and more intense than ever before.

KING OF THE HILL PLUS NEW AMERICAN DAD, AQUA TEEN, VENTURE BROS.AND FRISKY DINGO THIS FALL

Toronto – TELETOON is set to deliver prime cartoon comedy and movies for teen and adult audiences this fall as the new post 9 pm* schedule welcomes two new series, premieres new episodes from nine fan-favourites and launches two nights dedicated to themed feature-length programming.

Every night at 9 pm, Futurama kicks-off the TELETOON at Night schedule followed by new series King of the Hill at 9:30 pm with new American Dad episodes following on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursday nights at 10 pm ET/PT viewers are treated to a movie that fits within the monthly theme while Friday night at 10 pm is a rush with an action or superhero film title with titles such as the Canadian premieres of the new animated feature, Wonder Woman.

On the weekend, iconoclastic comedy hits the schedule as on Saturday nights between 10 pm and 3 am new series Xavier: Renegade Angel comes to TELETOON Detour along with fresh episodes of cult shows such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Venture Bros., Frisky Dingo and Metalocalypse. On Sunday nights from 10 pm, viewers can take in more cult comedy with classic episodes of Bromwell High, Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in the World and John Callahan’s Quads! The fall schedule begins Monday, September 7.

New Series

New to TELETOON at Night, King of the Hill joins the schedule at 9:30 pm every evening. The show follows the day-to-day activities of Hank Hill, his family and their neighbours in a suburban Texas town. Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the Emmy-winning show stars Mike Judge along with Kathy Najimy and Brittany Murphy (repeats 11:30 pm Monday-Wednesday).

On Saturday night/ Sunday morning at 12:15 am, new series, Xavier: Renegade Angel premieres after previously only being sneaked-peeked in the TELETOON Detour Dump. From the minds behind cult band PFFR and animated using CGI reminiscent of early computer games, Xavier: Renegade Angel follows the eponymous Xavier, a mysterious wanderer who has a snake hand, knees that bend backwards and six nipples. Causing chaos and often dismemberment in his wake, Xavier is on a cross-country journey, seeking the truth about his origin and the identity of his parents’ murderer (repeats Sunday 2:45 am).

New Episodes – Monday to Wednesday

American Dad continues with all new episodes of the comedy, created by Seth MacFarlane, premiere every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night at 10 pm. In Seasons three and four of the hit show, CIA agent Stan Smith joins a gay Republican group, becomes a bounty hunter and wins a contest to have dinner with President Bush.

New Episodes- Saturday Night

Once Futurama and King of the Hill have shuffled-off the Saturday night schedule, the shows get a bit more bizarre and brazen as new episodes from Adult Swim air from 10 pm. Kicking off with a brand new episode of Robot Chicken (repeats 12:30 am).

At 10:15 pm Aqua Teen Hunger Force is back for its fifth season featuring guest appearances by Neko Case, T-Pain, Josh Homme and Kristen Schaal. The season follows Master Shake, Frylock, Meatwad and Carl as they take on robots, sirens, furries and a murderous ventriloquist dummy (repeats 12:45 am).

10:30 pm sees the return of The Venture Bros. Fraternal twins Hank and Dean along with their father Doc Venture and the family bodyguard Brock Sampson embark on ’60s style adventures in the 21st century. The third season explores the back story of the main characters including the origins of arch-enemies to Doc Venture, the Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend (repeats 1 am).

The residents of Moraltown face up to the secrets of their past in new episodes of Moral Orel at 11 pm (repeats 1:30 am). At 11:15 pm Killface and Xander Crews vie to become President of the United States in the second season of Frisky Dingo (repeats 1:45 am).

At 11:30 pm Dethklok are back in season two of Metalocalypse. In episodes never before seen on TELETOON,the band employ lookalikes to avoid assassination, launch a clothing line and form their own PR firm. Dr. Rockso also returns in an attempt to get over his cocaine addiction (repeats 2 am).

Early, Rusty and Granny return in new episodes of Squidbillies at 11:45 pm (repeats 2:15 am) while the straight-shooting buttock detective returns in new episodes of Assy McGee at midnight (repeats 2:30 am).
