AMPAS Announces 18 Films Submitted for "Best Animated Feature" Oscar

The Association of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 18 films submitted for consideration for the Best Animated Feature Academy Award this year:

  • The Adventures of Tintin
  • Alois Nebel
  • Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
  • Arthur Christmas
  • Cars 2
  • A Cat in Paris
  • Chico & Rita
  • Gnomeo & Juliet
  • Happy Feet Two
  • Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil
  • Kung Fu Panda 2
  • Mars Needs Moms
  • Puss in Boots
  • Rango
  • Rio
  • The Smurfs
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Wrinkles

Several of the nominated films have not had their qualifying theatrical runs in the United States yet. The 84th Academy Award nominations will be announced on January 24, 2012, with the awards ceremony held on February 26, 2012.
