The fifth season of Harley Quinn, Max’s adult animated superhero comedy based on the Batman character, will be released this year. Per The Direct, the new season of Harley Quinn will begin airing in 2024.
Harley Quinn, which stars Kaley Cuoco as the titular character, premiered in November of 2019 on the DC Universe streaming service. Three seasons and two streaming service name changes later, Harley Quinn wrapped up its fourth season on Max on September 14, 2023.
Season Four ended with Harley and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell), foiling Lex Luthor’s plans. Harley spent the season as a member of the Batfamily while Ivy ran the Legion of Doom until they decided to prioritize their relationship over their careers. They meet up with the recently paralyzed Barbara Gordon and Catwoman over Nightwing’s desecrated grave and play with the idea of forming the Gotham City Sirens.
Soon after season four ended, Max announced there will be a fifth season of Harley Quinn. Things have been quiet about the show until Corus Entertainment, a Canadian media outlet company, announced that Warner Bros. Animation will release new episodes of Harley Quinn on Adult Swim Canada. They later confirmed that this will be the fifth season.
While season four premiered in the fall, seasons two and three had July release dates. It’s 
unlikely that the show will begin as early as July 2024 considering we haven’t seen so much as a trailer. It’s possible that they are planning for season five of Harley Quinn to coincide with the theatrical release of Joker: Folie à Deux. The sequel to 2019’s Joker will feature Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and is set to hit theatres on October 4, 2024.
Curiously, there is no word on the Harley Quinn spin-off series, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Kite Man, who had been a supporting character on the show as Poison Ivy’s boyfriend then fiance then ex, was last seen dating Golden Glider. When Harley Quinn wrapped up its fourth season, a trailer for Kite Man: Hell Yeah! dropped, saying the show will be out “too soon”.
Turns out it’s not soon enough. Matt Oberg will be returning as Kite-Man with Stephanie Hsu playing Golden Glider. The official synopsis of the series says that Kite Man and Golden Glider will be running a bar for villains. Kaley Cuoco will be making an appearance as Harley Quinn, and some familiar faces, such as Bane and Darkseid, will show up. It has yet to have a release date.
While we don’t know exactly when Harley Quinn or Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! will premiere, both series are set to air in 2024 on Max. It’s anyone’s guess which series will come first, but hopefully they won’t be airing concurrently. All four seasons of Harley Quinn are available on Max.
