World of Warcraft isn’t just a major MMO, it’s one of the longest-running MMORPGs out there and one that has continued to thrive for many years and many, MANY expansions. The latest one of which is World of Warcraft Shadowlands, which is aiming to deliver not just new content but a fresh experience for all who play it. And the team at Activision Blizzard is looking for new ways to bring a sense of joy and peace to all who play their title, and to that end, they’ve made some interesting animated videos based on a recent trend.
If you’re familiar with the notion of a “Low-Fi Remix”, it’s a kind of music that is meant to go on in the background as you go and do work. It’s light, feels good, and doesn’t get your heart pumping in a way that distracts you from what is going on. To that end, four World of Warcraft Shadowlands soundtracks have been remixed to fit this Low-Fi style and a simple yet fun animation has been added to emphasize that even World of Warcraft characters have to get work done.
To some, this may seem like an odd thing to do, but as Blizzard has found out over the years it’s important to go and try and get both new gamers and keep the ones you have entertained in even the most subtle of ways. And these Lo-Fi tracks might just be a great way to do it.
That being said, there are some things that about Shadowlands that are up for debate. Including how it needed to be delayed to be polished and how some aren’t impressed with the story and additions to the title. Not to mention there have been key departures from the WOW team that many feel signal the game is in for a slide.
Whether it’s true or not is up to you.
