How’d you like to learn the secrets of animation from Butch Hartman? There’s an easier way than tying him up and torturing him….he’ll give it out willingly! (For money.) Hartman is headlining the 2016 World Animation And VFX Summit in Marina del Rey, California. Other speakers this year include Jose San Román of Spain’s Ilion Animation Studios, and former president of Warner Bros. Animation Sander Schwartz.

““I believe that strong characters and strong stories will always win the day,” says Hartman. “In this master class, we will look at how you can prepare your ideas for a pitch. Then, we examine ways you can pitch your ideas effectively to a studio. We’ll also look at the best ways to stay creative and open to new ideas.”

If you plan to be around the Marina area this November, you can get your tickets at animag.eventbrite.com. For more  details, check out AM’s narrow-margined press release below. And as a bonus, here’s some footage from the 2015 Summit:

LOS ANGELES, CA    Animation Magazine’s World Animation and VFX Summit
has announced three innovative Master Classes which take place on
Wednesday, November 2, at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey,
Calif.

Multiple Emmy- and Annie-winning creator of Nickelodeon’s
long-running series Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom and T.U.F.F.
Puppy and animation industry innovator Butch Hartman will share the
secrets of his amazing career, offer helpful tips on how to develop,
pitch, produce and promote your animated content, and discuss the
myriad opportunities that new streaming services and online content
venues have provided for first-time toon creators.

“Technology has allowed content creators to blaze their own path
these days,” says Hartman.  “I believe that strong characters and
strong stories will always win the day.  In this master class, we will
look at how you can prepare your ideas for a pitch. Then, we examine
ways you can pitch your ideas effectively to a studio. We’ll also
look at the best ways to stay creative and open to new ideas.”

The second Master Class will be led by widely respected TV and
digital animation veteran Sander Schwartz.  Schwartz, who is the
president of Grom Social, an online and mobile social network for
children with over 3.7 million members worldwide, will paint a clear
picture of the future of the opportunities and challenges of the new
digital age. He will also offer a rare look at the creative process
behind The Batman, Tom and Jerry Tales, Xiaolin Showdown, Teen Titans,
Justice League Unlimited, and many of the other iconic shows he worked
on during his tenure as president of Warner Bros. Animation, and at
Sony Pictures Family Entertainment and Fremantle Media.

The third master class, taught by Jose San Román of Spain’s
innovative Ilion Animation Studios, will have a more international
focus. San Román will examine animation as a new asset class in the
financial community and focus on issues that most investors and studio
executives are unaware of. Currently partnered with Paramount, Ilion
has evolved into a multi-production studio, aiming to produce various
feature films concurrently to meet the growing global demand for
top-quality digital content.

The World Animation and VFX Summit’s goal is to promote
international co-productions and global ventures and offer networking
and educational opportunities in the intimate setting of the
California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey. These special Master Classes
are designed to give animation and visual effects professionals and
newcomers a realistic snapshot of the current state of the business
and arm them with insiders’ perspective on what it takes to
successfully create and distribute original content and grab the
attention of investors and decision makers in the changing marketplace
of 2016 and beyond.

Tickets for the World Animation and VFX Summit and the Master Classes
