Word Up, It’s Birdgirl: First Trailer For Adult Swim Comedy

The world of Harvey Birdman has returned…again! After a killer ratings performance for the special “Harvey Birdman, Attorney General” in 2018, a spinoff was greenlit that focuses on Paget Brewster’s character Birdgirl. It’s nearly ready, and Adult Swim has posted the trailer online…so let’s watch it.

As the new series opens, Phil Ken Sebben is….dead! Whah?!? I know Stephen Colbert isn’t always available these days, but were such drastic measures necessary? What it means in-universe is that the entire company of Sebben & Sebben has been willed to his daughter Judy…aka Birdgirl!

Problem is, Judy already had her schedule filled just performing superhero work. She has no idea how she can squeeze in running an entire corporation, but she’s just gonna have to wing it, sometimes literally. “Through the halls of the company headquarters she assembles her Birdteam,” reads the official description.

This includes characters like her former nemesis Meredith the Mindtaker, a man known only as The Feels, the formidable Strongarm, and Birdcat — who’s just a cat. “By day, they try to drag the company into this century. By mid-afternoon, they usually end up having to break a lot of things to stop something bad that one of them may have helped cause.”

The art style looks a bit different, but fear not — the off-kilter humor is the same. The entire above sketch concerns Judy’s efforts to open a door. So far, however, we haven’t heard of any visitors in the cast from the original Harvey Birdman show, nor do we see any cameos from obscure Hanna-Barbera characters (come on, you AT LEAST need those).

In addition to Brewster, the Birdgirl series features the voices of Rob Delaney, Sonia Denis, Kether Donohue, John Doman, Negin Farsad, Tony Hale, and Lorelei Ramirez. Each episode will be twice as long as a single Birdman case (30 minutes) and the series will premiere April 4 at midnight on Adult Swim.

Oh yeah, and Final Space is running new episodes again. That’s not the subject of this article but AS didn’t promote it much and you need to be watching. 11:30 on Saturdays.
