You just never know who’s going to turn up in this darn game, do you? How did Persona 5 protagonist Joker get into Super Smash Bros Ultimate?
Last night during The Game Awards, Reggie Fils-Aime came on stage and started chatting up Nintendo’s DLC plans for Smash Bros. “There’s going to be five characters. Each character will come with a stage…it’ll come with a collection of music. These are characters that are new to the series…characters that you would not anticipate to be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”
And to prove it, he then dropped the Joker trailer.
It truly came as a shock. Smash Bros creator Sakurai admitted last month that all five unannounced DLC characters had been locked in and approved by Nintendo. Most fans figured this meant those characters would all be internal Nintendo properties.
And those that thought otherwise never predicted anyone from Persona would be crossing over — though technically their two parent companies have worked together before. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE for Wii U was a co-production of Nintendo and Atlus, a spinoff of both Persona and Fire Emblem.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released today for Nintendo Switch. There is no word yet when Joker will be joining the cast….but this makes the mind whirl; just who are the other four??
