As Lucasfilm promised during the Super Bowl, the first full trailer for Solo appeared online this morning, expanding on the scenes that appeared during the 30-second ad. The silence from Disney and Lucasfilm throughout 2017 on this anticipated picture — now four months from release — sparked rumors of a delay into the winter, which in turn sparked rumors of massive reshoots.
We now know neither is true….we’re sticking to our intended course and barrelling into May as fast as possible, but with just four months left to advertise the thing, can Disney catch up?
If the next few weeks leading up to Memorial Day look this good, then sure. We were worried for a sec about Alden Ehrenreich stepping into the boots of a legend like Harrison Ford, but even if no one can replace the original Han, Alden’s got the mannerisms and smug one-liners down. Many of the scenes hinted at here look just plain fun, like a solo Solo picture should.
