Disney/Marvel has pretty much had the comic book superhero movie blockbuster category to themselves for most of the decade so far but Warner Bros has thrown down the gauntlet this week by announcing they will have 13 – count ‘em, 13 – new films over the course of the next five and a half years and nine of those 13 are directly tied to a DC comics angle in some form.
The nine DC Comics-related movies are all untitled and have release dates ranging from June 2016 to June 2020 with two per year every one of those years except for 2016. In addition, Warner Bros will be launching two animated movie titles in May 2018 and May 2019 along with an “event” film currently scheduled for both November 2018 and November 2020.
