A trailer for the upcoming Bluey special, The Sign, has been released.
The Sign, which premieres worldwide on April 14 and will have a run time of 28 minutes, is a special extended episode, with a runtime four times the length of a regular episode. A synopsis has not been released, but it will be preceded by a regular length episode titled Ghostbasket, which sees the return of grannies Janet and Rita, played by Bluey and Bingo, and will set the stage for The Sign.
“We’re so excited to share Ghostbasket, a brand new Bluey episode followed by The Sign which is the equivalent to nearly six Chunky Chimps!” said Bluey production studio Ludo Studio in a statement. “The crew have worked so hard on these two new episodes, making them the very best that they can be and we can’t wait to share them with a global audience.”
Ghostbasket will first premiere worldwide on April 7. The Sign premieres a week later, first airing on the Australian ABC, followed by a release on Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Junior in the rest of the world where available (except for China and New Zealand). The special will include Rove McManus, Deborah Mailman, Brendan Williams, and Joel Edgerton making their Bluey voice debuts. Both episodes are written by series creator Joe Brumm and directed by Richard Jeffery.
Debuting on the Australian ABC in 2018 and rolling out on Disney networks and Disney+ worldwide beginning in 2019, Bluey centers on the titular character, a young blue heeler puppy who lives with her mum, her dad, and her little sister, Bingo. She uses her energy to play a variety of imaginative games that involve both her family and others.
The series is jointly commissioned by the Australian ABC and BBC Studios Kids & Family and produced by Ludo Studio, with BBC holding the global distribution rights. A huge hit globally, it started the year as the most streamed series among all audiences and has won a number of awards. It has also spawned various merchandise as well as a tie in video game and stage show.
