Bandai once again had a strong presence at MCM London Comic Con, with both their own booth and a Tamashii Nations stand.
The Bandai stand focused on both Power Rangers and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, including exclusive merchandise for both such as a Tokyo Vinyl Megazord and an exclusive two-pack of Ladybug and Cat Noir. A small section was given over to advance previews for toys from next year’s movie based on the original show, which was also represented at the event by a separate stand allowing fans to place themselves in the cast teaser posters.
Alas, the previously strongly represented Banpresto merchandise line up from Japan was this time relegated to bargain bins. This was also the fate that befell Sprukits, the DC and Halo model kits intended as a stealth entrance to return Gunpla model kits to the UK. As a fan from when the line first emerged here nearly fifteen years ago in the form of Gundam Wing I’m sad to see this.
Gunpla was however represented at the event with a few stands, including retailer Japan Cool who are now the new home of Tamashii Nations action figures. Collector aimed figures from lines such as Star Wars, Super Mario Bros, Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball were available for purchase. Special attention was given to Bandai’s new diecast line of figures of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with designs based on the popular 1980s cartoon. Tamashii Nations items available at the convention can also be purchased via Japan Cool’s website.
