Toonami has announced their schedule for Saturday nights in December. First, on December 7, Dragon Ball Z Kai is being doubled up in the 2 AM hour to replace the concluding reruns of My Hero Academia season 6. It remains to be seen when season 7 of My Hero Academia will come to Toonami, but the delay of its broadcast premiere has been months longer than previous seasons. Saturday airings of Dragon Ball Z Kai fell behind Friday’s “Toonami Rewind” run at the start of November. With Dragon Ball Z Kai airing a four episode marathon on Rewind December 6, Toonami’s Saturday run of Kai is doubling up to avoid falling too far behind Fridays.
The schedule for December 14 has not been specifically posted by the Toonami Facebook page, but it will likely closely resemble December 7. For December 21, the block leads off with two episodes of Invincible Fight Girl, allowing this new series from Cartoon Network Studios to finish its run before the end of the year. Following the two episode season finale, a marathon of the first six episodes of Toonami’s newest anime, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, will be airing from 1:00 – 4:00 AM.
Toonami has also revealed the final schedule of the year. On December 28, they will be airing a full series marathon of Rick and Morty the Anime. All ten episodes of the series will air from 12:00 – 5:00 AM. The version of the show airing will be the English dub. Rick and Morty the Anime began airing on Toonami in Japanese with English subtitles, while the English dub premiered on Thursdays. On its second Toonami run, it has aired the English dub at 3 AM.
Toonami has historically aired only English dubs. Ninja Kamui was the first anime to receive regular subbed airings on Toonami, three hours after the midnight dub premieres. When it came time for the post series marathon, Toonami opted to marathon the English dub by Sentai Filmworks. The decision to air a marathon of Rick and Morty the Anime’s dub leaves Uzumaki the only Toonami original to have received a marathon of the subbed version.
