Roar Uthaug [yes, THAT Roar Uthaug] has agreed to direct the rebootified version of “Tomb Raider”, the wildly popular video game of the 1990s that made Angelina Jolie semi-famous in 2001 when she starred as the game’s heroine, Lara Croft, and then reprised that role in a subsequent sequel.
The video game franchise was itself rebooted two years ago by Square Enix and it is upon that rebooted version which the new film will be based.
Uthaug, who was the director of “The Wave” – this year’s best film Academy Award entry from Norway – will be making his first foray into English language films with this effort.
