There’s Already A Second Trailer For Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop

cowboy bebop

Go figure. A month ago we couldn’t get a single drop of footage out of Netflix regarding their upcoming Cowboy Bebop adaption, and now we’re drowning in it. Two trailers, released a week apart, show off Spike, Jet and Faye in all their realistic, three-dimensional, fleshy glory. The second one came out just an hour ago:

It opens with Spike Spiegel drinking at a bar. The bartender seems to know him and asks what he’s been up to lately. In response Spike implies that “Spike” isn’t his actual name, which is different from the anime and manga. He had to change it to hide his identity, now that he no longer works for the criminal syndicate trying to kill him.

This is followed by plenty of gratuitous shots from the ten episodes planned for this series (will there be more? we don’t know). Through the frantic cuts you’ll catch glimpses of murderous clown Pierrot LeFou, Spike’s old love Julia, his archenemy Vicious, and….once again, no Ed anywhere. The only time the promotional materials have even hinted at Ed is in the words of this tweet sent out a few days ago, and even then, it’s more like a reference and nowhere close to a promise.

It’s a fine trailer if all you want to know is what the show looks like, but if you want to see something TRULY amazing, check out the trailer that appeared last week if you haven’t already. It’s one of the best trailers I’ve ever seen and I have to force myself to keep writing this instead of clicking on it again. They could have just released THIS and I would’ve been hyped.

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop stars John Cho as Spike, Mustafa Shakir as former law enforcement officer Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as space vixen Faye Valentine, Elena Satine as Julia and Alex Hassell as Vicious. The series premieres November 19 on Netflix.
