Magneto is one of the most important characters in comic book history. He’s been a villain, a hero, savior, a destroyer, and everything in between. But no matter the situation, he has always claimed to have the “best intentions” for his fellow Mutant. And in the current X-Men line of comics, he’s one of the leaders of Mutant nation of Krakoa. But with a recent event, things might paint him in a more villainous light…as The Trial of Magneto approaches…
Because in a major event for the X-Men comics, The Hellfire Gala, the Mutant raced showcased their power (and style) by hosting a lavish party and then terraformed the planet Mars to house a section of their Mutant population. But at the end of the night, the body of Scarlet Witch, Magneto’s estranged “daughter”, was found. And now Marvel has released a synopsis and animated trailer for the events to come in a special miniseries determined to figure out what happened:
“When has Magneto ever allowed bureaucracy to get between himself and what’s just? In the island paradise of Krakoa, safe haven and home for mutants–Magneto’s hard-fought, greatest desire of seeing his people at peace and thriving has finally been achieved. But Magneto’s loyalty extends only as far as it is first earned, so after the Hellfire Gala, when he learns that even a paradise could still be filled with lies…theĀ Trial of Magneto will begin.”
There’s a lot to see and experience in that trailer. Not the least of which is the various parties involved in the trial itself. The Avengers (including the “husband” to Scarlet Witch in The Vision), the Quiet Council of Krakoa, X-Factor (who will search for the killer) and more.
And if events depicted are any indication, this will not be a simple trial…nor one without bloodshed. The trial begins this August!
