The television anime Spy X Family has been a smash hit and a truly unique show. Basically put a romantic comedy, a spy comedy, and a domestic comedy sitcom into a blender and add anime action and you get the winning formula that is Spy X Family. It has been a major hit on the small screen, but it has recently come to the big screen in Japan. This film is an anime original story rather than an adaptation of the original manga entitled Spy X Family Code White. According a recent Tweet, the film has grossed over six billion yen in Japan.

For those wondering what that translates to in American dollars, that is roughly forty million USD. The budget for this movie has yet to be publicly released, but if we assume it is comparable to the Demon Slayer movie’s budget of 15.7 million USD, then it easily made a profit before it even got its worldwide export. As for non-Japanese fans, there is still a little bit of a wait until the film is finally release abroad. The following is the worldwide release schedule for the movie:
- April 17: Belgium, France, Switzerland (French-speaking)
- April 18: Australia, New Zealand
- April 19: Canada, Spain, United States
- April 23: Austria, Germany
- April 24: Italy, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago
- April 25: Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Central America, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Mexico (in IMAX on April 18), Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Suriname, Switzerland (German-speaking), Switzerland (Italian-speaking), Uruguay
- April 26: Bulgaria, Ecuador, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Venezuela
As is common with Crunchyroll titles, there will be screenings in both Japanese with subtitles and an English dub. Here is the trailer for those who have yet to see it:
Americans should mark April 19 on their calendars: Spy X Famiy Code White arrives in U.S. theaters on that date.
