The Mandalorian Season 2 Premieres On Disney+ October 30

When Disney+ launched late last year, it was an immediate hit thanks to the success of its first original program, Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Everyone tuned in to the weekly adventures of the helmeted bounty hunter, and every kid had to have those bootleg unofficial Baby Yoda dolls sold on the street.

Since then, the pandemic has tempered Disney+’s ability to add much else to its lineup, with promised shows like Falcon and the Winter Soldier (originally slated to premiere last month) and WandaVision getting kicked down the road. But we’re definitely getting The Mandalorian Season 2…filming wrapped in late February, shortly before everything shut down.

Not only that, a specific release date was revealed today: October 30. We wish this announcement had come with a new trailer or some screenshots, but no such soap. What we know at this moment about The Mandalorian Season 2 is what we knew previously, which isn’t much. You wanna talk about that weird weapon that Moff Gideon was holding in the finale again? It’s called the Darksaber and it’s been spotted in plenty of other Star Wars shows, having turned up in Clone Wars first and then wielded by Sabine Wren in Star Wars Rebels later.

It is heavily speculated that Ahsoka Tano will show up in this coming season, and that she will be played by Rosario Dawson. Dawson had previously expressed public interest in playing the character, she’s been confirmed for Season 2 in a guest role, and showrunner Dave Filoni is Ahsoka’s co-creator from the Clone Wars days. He’s worked the character into every Star Warsian thing he’s worked on since, so an appearance or two isn’t that far-fetched a notion.

Like the first season, Season 2 of The Mandalorian will be released one episode per week. The Child returns to our galaxy October 30.
