When The Last Of Us came out on the PS3, it was a revelation in many respects. It was the perfect mix of storytelling and gameplay that just resounded with players in a way that cannot be overstated. The only real question was, would they be able to top it? And as recent fan and critic reviews for The Last Of Us Part 2 have revealed, it may not have topped it, but it did match it in many respects and many are grateful for the work of Naughty Dog.
Many praised the story for its focus on Ellie and the revenge that drove her throughout the title. But the question of extra content eventually arose from fans and critics alike. On the Kindy Funny Gamescast, The Last of Us Part 2 Director Neill Druckmann spoke on the matter and noted that at present there are no plans for DLC of any kind.
He went further and stated that the game was originally going to have a story DLC of some kind via a “Season Pass” but that eventually got scrapped. So there won’t be anything like “Left Behind” for this title, or at least, at present.
Despite the game only coming out recently there are many questions about the future of the franchise. Mainly because gamers feel there are still stories to tell in this world, including an ending that didn’t tie up all the loose ends. However, Druckmann and the team at Naughty Dog have noted that they aren’t interested in just making new games, they want to make ones that truly fulfill the promise of the series.
For more proof of this, think about how long it took for The Last of Us Part 2 to come out. It was delayed and promised for years before coming out in 2020. So in short, you should appreciate the game you have right now.
