Video Game studio “innerSloth”, creators of the pop culture sensation “Among Us” video game, recently shared their first image of their upcoming animated series based upon the game. On “X”, “Instagram”, and other social media platforms, the studio posted the following message: “Patient Crewmates are rewarded with a pizza party (totally safe) (not a trap) #AmongUsAnimated. Work on the show is progressing!!!“.

They also released the following image:

The image shows the cafeteria from “The Skeld” (the original map from the game), but the pizza party appears to be on hold (the blood splatter hints as to the party having an uninvited guest). The Imposter appears to be on the loose.

Announced as beginning production last summer, Titmouse, the animation studio behind “Big Mouth” and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” is the animation studio working on the series. “CBS Eye Animation Productions” is serving as co-producer for the series alongside InnerSloth. Owen Dennis (creator of Infinity Train) is serving as Creator and Executive Producer on the project.

First released in 2018, the “Among Us” came exploded in popularity in 2020, in part due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, as people were seeking new ways to have social interaction (the “murder mystery” aspect of the game allowing friends and people across the world to interact, even amidst the lockdowns).

The story for the animated series is based on the game, with the official description reading “Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Impostor’ or fall victim to its murderous designs.”

No release date has been revealed yet, and the streaming platform for it’s release has not been revealed either (though with “CBS Eye Animation” helping to product, odds are it’s coming to Paramount Plus). Also no word yet as to a release date (whether that be in 2024, 2025 or beyond).

Expect more news in the weeks ahead.
