Who ordered the Triple Deluxe Bob’s Burgers Movie Trailer with pickles, relish and…checking notes….”extra big buns” (in Tina’s handwriting)? This new one from 20th Century Studios offers the most revealing look at Bob’s big-screen predicament yet.
As we’ve gone over several times by now, the central dilemma of The Bob’s Burgers Movie is a giant sinkhole opening up in front of the restaurant entrance, making it impossible to sell anything. But as this new trailer reveals, Bob and Linda are already in a hole of their own: they have one week to make their next loan payment or the bank will default on the whole place. The Belchers have had financial issues before, but none so pressing as to threaten their entire future.
This string of bad luck sends Bob into a state of catatonic moaning at the dinner table in the trailer’s opening scene, which is different from the catatonic moaning he makes at the END of the trailer while sweet-talking one of his burgers. (It’s best not to think about it.)
You KNOW things are bad when that old public-domain trailer cliche, “Hall Of The Mountain King,” starts playing. 20th is still keeping some cards to the chest — like what kind of plan the family has to rescue the business that gave the series its name, or what any of the songs are like (you just KNOW there are going to be songs).
The Bob’s Burgers Movie serves up a cast that naturally includes everyone who does voices for the show, including H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, Stephanie Beatriz, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Kline and others. It was directed by Bernard Derriman and creator Loren Bouchard, from a script written by Bouchard and Nora Smith. The film opens May 27.
