TELETOON Releases June 2009 Programming Highlights

TELETOON has announced the programming highlights for June 2009. The main TELETOON network will premiere the animated teen surfer comedy Stoked, as well as the season finale of Ben 10: Alien Force and new episodes of Total Drama Action and Justice League. TELETOON Detour will be airing the animated movie A Scanner Darkly, along with their usual programming of American Dad and Morel Orel. TELETOON Retro will be running a marathon of the classic 1980’s Transformers animated series on Saturday, June 13, 2009, along with special Father’s Day programming on June 21.

TELETOON GETS STOKED WITH A NEW SHOW AND MOVIE PREMIERES

Toronto This June TELETOON premieres a new tween comedy from the creators of 6TEEN, Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action. Stoked follows a group of Canadian teens as they spend their summer at a B.C. surfing resort and premieres on Thursday, June 25.

Also this month, the season finale of Ben 10: Alien Force airs in Action Force, new episodes of Total Drama Action join the schedule and Superfan Friday features new episodes of Justice League.

New family movies fill out the June line-up with TELETOON Presents premieres including Charlotte’s Web and Kangaroo Jack.

June 5 – June 11

In Action Force this week, fans can tune in to the hour-long season finale of Ben 10: Alien Force. Ben needs help if he is going to stop the Highbreed from invading the Earth, so he tries to recruit the other Plumbers kids to join him. The finale airs Sunday, June 7 at 9 am ET/PT, and features a sneak-peek of the new Ben 10 movie, Ben 10: Alien Swarm. From June 5, teletoon.com launches a new Ben 10 game and website with exclusive information about the show and the new movie.

Two New Yorkers manage to lose $50,000 of mob money to a kangaroo in the 2003 film Kangaroo Jack,starring Jerry O’Connell and Christopher Walken. The film follows two bumbling friends, Charlie and Louie, on a race across the Outback to recover the stolen money and avoid retribution from the mobsters who are chasing them. Kangaroo Jack is a TELETOON Presents premiere airing on Saturday, June 6 at 7 pm ET/PT.

June 12 – June 18

In Superfan Friday on June 12, viewers can catch an all-new episode of Justice League. When Lex Luthor discovers that he is suffering from a terminal case of Kryptonite poisoning he seeks revenge on Superman and the Justice League. The episode airs at 8:30 pm ET/PT.

On Saturday, June 13 at 7 pm ET/PT, the TELETOON Presents premiere is Kangaroo Jack: G’Day USA, the 2004 animated sequel to Kangaroo Jack. A business venture brings Louie, Charlie and Jessie back to Australia. Their initial happiness at seeing their old friend Kangaroo Jack turns to worry when poachers kidnap him. It’s up to the trio to follow Jack’s captors back to the USA and rescue their friend.

On Sunday, June 14 at 11 am ET/PT, TELETOON Presents airs the hit TV movie Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix. In this 2007 animated film, Ben accidentally sets off a self-destruct function in the Omnitrix. With the fate of the galaxies hanging in the balance, Ben, Gwen and Tetrax must travel through space to find the watch’s creator.

June 19 – June 25

On Thursday, June 25, at 7 pm ET/PT, TELETOON premieres Stoked, a TELETOON Original Production from the creators of 6TEEN, Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action. This new comedy series follows
Emma, Reef, Lo, Fin, Broseph and Johnny, a group of teens from very different backgrounds working together at Surfer’s Paradise Resort on Sunset Island, B.C. Their first summer away from home starts looking less glamourous
than expected when the teens arrive to discover that the resort is tacky, their jobs are awful and their bosses are even worse. But at least there are killer waves, great friends and tons of experiences they never would have had back home.

From June 22 to 24, fans can watch a week of Total Drama. On Monday, June 22 at 7 pm ET/PT, TELETOON airs Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island. In the hour-long special episode, the Total Drama Island wrap party has an unexpected twist when the contestants are given the chance to find a suitcase stuffed with a million dollars in cash. On Tuesday, June 24 at 7 pm ET/PT, TELETOON travels to an abandoned film lot to revisit the first two episodes of Total Drama Action. Finally, on Wednesday, June 24 at 7 pm ET/PT, fans can catch a special recap episode of Total Drama Action, followed by a brand new episode at 7:30 pm ET/PT. The theme is bank heists this week and the teams will have to figure out how to break into a safe if they want to rescue a trapped teammate.

Charlotte’s Web is the TELETOON Presents premiere on Saturday, June 20 at 7 pm ET/PT. Based E.B. White’s classic novel of the same name, the film stars Julia Roberts as Charlotte, a kind-hearted spider determined to save the life of her friend Wilbur the pig. Dakota Fanning, Oprah Winfrey and Robert Redford also star.

June 26 – July 2

Action Force features all-new episodes of fan favourites on Sunday, June 28. At 7 am ET/PT, viewers can catch a new episode of Bakugan: New Vestroia. In Iron Man: Armored Adventures at 8 am ET/PT, Tony finds the third Makluan Ring, and thanks to Gene he ends up in more trouble than he expected. In an all-new episode of The Secret Saturdays, a logging camp in the Allegheny Mountains is destroyed by a man-eating giant and The Saturdays must team up with Doyle and his new girlfriend to find two missing loggers. The Secret Saturdays airs at 8:30 am ET/PT.

Viewers can also watch rebroadcasts of the most recent episode of Total Drama Action followed by Episodes 1 and 2 of Stoked starting at 5:30 pm ET/PT on Saturday, June 27 and again on Sunday, June 28 at 6:30 pm ET/PT.

300 AND PAN’S LABYRINTH THIS JUNE ON TELETOON DETOUR

Toronto – For teen and adult audiences, TELETOON Detour airs the network premieres of two visually striking movies this month as the critically acclaimed Pan’s Labyrinth airs on Thursday, June 11 while 300 is broadcast on Thursday June 18. Other TELETOON Detour movie offerings this month include V for Vendetta and A Scanner Darkly.

Elsewhere in the TELETOON Detour line up, viewers can catch American Dad on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30 pm ET/PT, while two back-to-back episodes of Moral Orel air Monday through Wednesday at 11 pm ET/PT, and again on Saturdays at 11 pm ET/PT. TELETOON Detour begins every evening at 9 pm ET/PT with Futurama .

June 5 – June 11

Pan’s Labyrinth, the Academy Award-winning film from director Guillermo del Toro, has its TELETOON Detour premiere on Thursday, June 11 at 9:30 pm ET/PT. Impressive CGI and intricate puppetry obscure the divide between fantasy and reality in this visionary film about a 10-year-old girl living in fascist Spain. Viewers can watch an encore presentation of the film on Friday, June 12 at 9:25 pm ET/PT.

A Scanner Darklyis the TELETOON Detour Movie on Friday, June 5 at 9:30 pm ET/PT. Based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and directed by Richard Linklater, A Scanner Darkly uses a combination of live-action and animation to explore the world of drugs in a dystopic near-future. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson.

In American Dad on Tuesday, June 9 at 9:30 pm ET/PT, Stan is paralyzed when Hayley accidentally shoots him, and Roger convinces Steve he’s adopted.

June 12 – June 18

300 is Zack Snyder’s visually ambitious film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel. Gerard Butler stars as Spartan King Leonidas in this explicit retelling of the famed battle of Thermopylae. The TELETOON Detour premiere of 300 airs Thursday, June 18 at 9:30 pm ET/PT. Fans have another chance to catch this film on Friday, June 19 at 9: 25 pm ET/PT.

In back-to-back episodes of Life’s a Zoo on Sunday, June 13 at 10 pm ET/PT, the housemates learn how difficult it can be to play nice when they are forced to be kind to one another or face a time out. Then, budgetary restrictions reduce the contestants to two-dimensional cartoon characters in the episode airing at 10:30 pm ET/PT.

June 19 – June 25

Tank Girl, the 1995 film based on the comic book of the same name, airs Thursday June 25 at 9:30 pm ET/PT on TELETOON Detour. The film, set in a grim version of the future, stars Lori Petty, Naomi Watts, Ice-T and Malcolm McDowell.

In Clone High this week, Joan of Arc temporarily disguises herself as “John Dark” in order to play on the boys basketball team, leading to a great deal of confusion for her fellow students. ESPN’s Chris Berman and Dan Patrick guest star as themselves on the episode airing June 20 at 10 pm ET/PT.

At 9 pm ET/PT on Wednesday, June 25, Futurama fans can catch a rebroadcast of the very first episode of the series, in which a pizza delivery boy awakens to find himself in a futuristic world populated by aliens and robots.

June 26 – July 2

Based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel, V for Vendetta is a 2005 film starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving. The film is set in a futuristic version of London where a totalitarian regime rules the population. V, a masked rebel and Evey, his young ally, seek to liberate the British people by any means necessary. V for Vendetta is the TELETOON Detour Movie on Friday June 26 at 9:30 pm ET/PT.

On Saturday, June 27 at 11 pm ET/PT, Orel’s quests to be virtuous and mature get him into trouble in back-to-back episodes of Moral Orel.

In Punch! on Sunday, June 28 at 9:30 pm ET/PT, Jordan is assigned the less-than-glamourous task of rooting through celebrities’ garbage.

THIS MONTH TELETOON RETRO TRANSFORMS AND ROLLS-OUT

TorontoThere’s more than meets the eye on TELETOON Retro this month. On Saturday, June 13 starting at 9 am ET, Transformers fans can tune in to TELETOON Retro for a 24-hour marathon of the classic 1980s series.

Also this month, TELETOON Retro celebrates Father’s Day with special episodes of The Raccoons and The Jetsons on June 21.

June 5 – June 11

Starting June 1, viewers can catch an additional broadcast of Fraggle Rock every night at 11 pm ET. In the episode, airing Friday June 5 at 11 pm ET, a radish shortage nearly destroys the Fraggle civilization. The episode also airs at 9 am and 7:30 pm ET.

On Friday, June 5, Fred and Wilma switch places for a day to prove how difficult their respective jobs are. The Flintstones airs at 5 pm, 8:30 pm and 4:30 am ET.

In Spider-Man on Saturday, June 6 at 9 pm ET, Dr. Noah Body wants revenge on Spidey and he frees several villains including Electro and Vulture from prison to help him with his plan.

June 12 – June 18

June 24 marks the theatrical release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but Transformers fans don’t have to wait until then to watch Optimus Prime and his Autobots battle Megatron and the evil Decepticons. On Saturday, June 13, TELETOON Retro will air a 24-hour Transformers marathon. Fans can catch the first 48 episodes of the classic1980s series between 9 am ET on Saturday, June 13 and 9 am ET on Sunday, June 14.

It’s all about the Chipettes this week on Alvin and the Chipmunks.On Wednesday, June 17 at 8:30 am ET, the Chipettes are in New York when “Uncle Harry” appears and tries to con them. On Thursday, June 18 at 8:30 am ET, the Chipettes reminisce about their early days in the music business.

In The Tom & Jerry Show on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:30 am ET, an ant gets into a growth serum and grows to be a giant, wreaking havoc on Tom and Jerry’s picnic and the town at large. Tom and Jerry must devise a plan to get the insect back to its original size.

June 19 – June 25

Sunday, June 21 is Father’s Day, and the Sneers and the Jetsons are celebrating in their own unique ways. In The Raccoons at 9:30 am ET, Cyril’s Father’s Day gift from Cedric is a television appearance, but the gift
turns into an ordeal for Cyril when the taxman corners him on live TV. The episode also airs at 1:30 pm ET. In The Jetsons at 4:30 pm ET, Elroy follows George around with a video camera as part of a Father’s Day project. Meanwhile, Astro falls in love with the poodle next door.

In The Pink Panther Show on Sunday, June 21 at 10 am ET, the Commissioner is abducted by aliens, and it’s up to the Inspector and Deux Deux to save him.

June 26 – July 2

Superhero fans can catch their favourites in action on TELETOON Retro every week. In The New Adventures of Batman onFriday, June 26 at 7 am, 9 pm and 12:30 am ET, Catwoman and Clayface take Gotham City’s oil supply hostage, and it’s up to Batman to stop them. On Saturday, June 27, The Fantastic Four meet Baron Hugo in Transylvania and learn the legend of Diablo, who is said to have discovered the secret of prolonged life. The episode airs at 7 am, 9 pm, and 12:30 am ET. In The New Adventures of Superman on Sunday, June 28 at 9 pm ET, Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are in Scotland, where they get embroiled in an ancient feud over the mysterious Kilbane Castle. The episode also airs at7 am and12:30 am ET.
