Last year The CW revealed it was looking into producing a Superman series based around Tyler Hoechlin’s protrayal of the character. He had first made his Berlantiverse debut on the second season of Supergirl, and went on to make special appearances during the crossover events including Elseworlds and the most recent Crisis On Infinite Earths. Within those crossovers Lois was introduced, played by Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tuloch.
The difference between this appearance and every other appearance of Lois was that the relationship between her and Superman was already well-established. She not only knew his secret, she was pregnant with his kid. Crisis revealed that Superman and Lois had sired a baby boy, though we didn’t see much of him during the event.
Now, post-Crisis, Superman and Lois are getting their own series, and we’ll get to know their…...teenage boys better? WHAT?
Deadline reports that Superman and Lois now have two kids, Jonathan and Jordan. Jon is described as “clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted,” while Jordan is “wildly intelligent, but his mercurial temperament and social anxiety limits his interactions with people.” Also, they’re teenagers….somehow.
If you’ve been watching the other DC CW shows lately, you know the rejiggering of the universe due to the Crisis event has changed a lot of things, or caused some events in the past to play out differently. But the fact that Superman and Lois’ kids are now two kids and have aged over a decade…yikes. Evidently Superman and Lois began dating much earlier in Earth Prime, changing the entire history of their relationship. Must be very confusing for them.
Two relative unknowns have been cast as the superkids, Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin. Despite actually having the name Jordan, Elsass is the one playing Jonathan. His previous credits include nothing of note, but he’ll be appearing before this show in Hulu’s limited series Little Fires Everywhere, opposite Reese Witherspoon. Garlin got to be in two episodes of SVU and he voiced Linus in The Peanuts Movie.
