Episode 6 of Suicide Squad Isekai occurred and we were treated to the exciting Squad vs. Squad fight that was hyped up. Aside from the fight, which like last episode took up a major part of the episode’s runtime, there were some twists and turns that will be covered in this recap.
In addition to Enchantress and the Thinker, who we saw at last episode’s cliffhanger, Killer Croc is also a member of the enemy Suicide Squad. It also turns out that the enemy Squad is using mind control on an army of elves, similar to the last fight between Harley’s Squad and characters mind controlled by the enemy Squad. We are treated to a well done WIT Studio caliber brawl that ends up being very one sided in the favor of the antagonists. Notable matchups include an underwater duel between King Shark and Killer Croc and Harley Quinn versus Enchantress. The elves have physical shields that are apparently impossible to penetrate even with bullets and Enchantress’ magical shields are even harder to penetrate. The shields end up being grenade proof as well as bullet proof as there is a memorable scene of Deadshot and Peacemaker shooting a grenade to make it explode, only for the spectacular display to have no effect during the fight. The Thinker causes Harley’s Squad to experience vivid hallucinations of their greatest fears and this shakes the team even further.
As Harley desperately tries to whack at Enchantress’ shield with her bat to no avail, she asks Enchantress why they are siding with the Empire, and she says that they don’t like the Empire, but they are a valuable ally against A.R.G.U.S. The Thinker used his powers to deflect Peacemaker and Deadshot’s bullets, killing them. Or not killing them, as it turns out to be a fakeout death. Rick Flag attempts to bluff out the enemy Squad by claiming that the bombs on Enchantress’ Squad still work. This bluff is all for naught and does not dissuade them from kicking our protagonists’ butts. It turns out that magic caused the bullets to not hit at fatal velocity and did not pierce their skin. Apparently, Enchantress isn’t okay with killing Harley’s Squad?
The next scene shows Harley’s Squad back in prison and the council deciding how to handle the war after the Kingdom lost the battle big. The queen decides the best way to punish Harley’s Squad for failure is “off with their heads!” This does not sit well with Princess Fione or Cecil, as the Suicide Squad have risked their lives for a kingdom they are not part of. Fione and Cecil decide to help the Squad jailbreak.
There is a another flashback to Princess Fione’s childhood and the chimney boy from the last flashback attempted to go to the army camp to steal bread and got killed. The queen blames Fione for telling the boy about the army camp, and we see another reason why she doesn’t like her mom.
The Suicide Squad mope around when Fione and Cecil come to their rescue and are given an offer to prove their worth by beating Enchantress’s Squad in a rematch. Harley’s Squad is hesitant to fight because they got beaten so badly. Eventually they decide to do it when Cecil and Fione warn them of their impending execution.
The big cliffhanger of the week involves the Thinker revealing that he knows Harley’s Squad has to approach the portal to reset the timer on their bombs and the cliffhanger hints that he will exploit that knowledge in their next battle.
This episode provided a well done battle scene and hints of an epic rematch. Let’s see what comes next.
