Oh, so you thought Star Wars: The Clone Wars was finally, definitely over? Not so…Get ready for Clone Wars II: The New Batch! Starring Zach Galligan, Pheobe Cates, and Hulk Hogan as The Agitated Theater Patron!

There was a time when The Clone Wars wasn’t fated to have a final season, let alone a spinoff. But then a new kind of war rose on the horizon — the Streaming War — and suddenly Disney needed crowd-pleasing, fan-buzzy content. So creator Dave Filoni got to resolve the storyline of Young Ahsoka at last and, while he was at it, sneakily planted the seeds for another series. We got to meet the Bad Batch during Season 7…we’re not sure if they were always intended as spinoff bait, but they serve that purpose now.

The Bad Batch are clones gone wrong. They didn’t turn out as perfect obedient soldiers and were tossed aside. But they’re the kind of accidents that only happen in sci-fi…each member of the Bad Batch was gifted with a unique special ability, and when they band together with these abilities, they become quite formidable. It’s too late for the Empire to realize this, so the Bad Batch are out on their own, having adventures and taking mercenary jobs where they can find them.

“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney Plus, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” says Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content at Disney+. “While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”

Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
