May is here, and with that comes the arrival of certain things, not the least of which is tomorrow which is “Star Wars Day”. Why? Because it’s May The 4th, as in “May The 4th Be With You”. Get it? Good, because we’re not explaining it twice. Anyway, the date has become a time of celebration through this galaxy not so far away and every year (even during the pandemic year) fans and Disney (who now owns Star Wars) has done its best to celebrate the franchise in all the best ways. And this year will be no different.
Because Disney is going to use Disney+ to celebrate Star Wars Day is a rather unique way, by giving fans not just new shows and shorts, but virtual experiences that give even more detail to the Star Wars universe.
The big release by far is the first couple episodes of The Bad Batch. A show that spins off from the final (the TRUE final) season of The Clone Wars cartoon that stars a bunch of altered clones going from the Star Wars version of The Dirty Dozen to fugitives from the empire after the execution of Order 66.
But, in a surprise, there is also going to be a Simpsons crossover short called “The Force Awakens From Its Nap”, here’s the description:
“In a daycare far, far away… but still in Springfield, Maggie is on an epic quest for her stolen pacifier. Her adventure brings her face-to-face with young Padawans, Sith Lords, familiar droids, Rebel scum, and an ultimate battle against the dark side, in this original short celebrating the Star Wars galaxy.”
As if all of that wasn’t enough, there will also be a Star Wars Biomes exhibit for you to go and “visit” some of Star Wars most iconic locations from the movies and shows, as well as a vehicle explorer that’ll let you see inside many classic vessels from the universe.
So as you can see, Star Wars Day is going to be very big indeed.
