To say that Star Trek has been going through a bit of a renaissance over the last several years would be an understatement. Given how the JJ Abrams movies stalled after Star Trek Beyond, and nothing seemed to be coming out soon, many fans had lost hope. Then, Star Trek Discovery came out and led to a host of new series, including ones yet to come out but will arrive soon. But one of the biggest surprises in terms of content and quality was that of Star Trek Lower Decks.

This animation series is very adult-themed in terms of their comedy and episodes (a first for the franchise), and deal with the “low-ranking” officers on board one of Starfleet’s “least-important vessels” and the various shenanigans that they get into. Star Trek Lower Decks dared to be different and it worked as earlier this year it was announced that the show would get a season 3, and now, one of the main voice actors has announced on Instagram that they are in the VO booth working on Season 3.

As you can see, Tawny Newsome, aka Ensign Beckett Mariner, is in the booth and ready to voice some more misadventures. The second season is set to arrive this August, so Season 3 will arrive in 2022.

As for the rest of the Star Trek Universe, it’s in pretty good hands with Star Trek Discovery getting its next season ready, Picard anxiously waiting for Season 2 to film (it was stopped because of the pandemic) and then there’s the new series in Brave New Worlds which follows the adventures of Captain Pike (Kirk’s predecessor) and then the OTHER animated series in Star Trek Prodigy which features the “return” of Captain Janeway.

So no matter how big a Star Trek fan you are, the franchise has plenty to offer you.
