Spider-Man: Far From Home is the first Marvel movie to appear in this new post-Endgame universe. So how does the movie factor the events of the current record-breaking blockbuster? This new trailer reveals the scenes that tie the movie’s plot into a post-Snap world.
It should go without saying both the trailer and this article discussing it dive into ENDGAME SPOILERS. Anyone who has not seen the film, AND miraculously avoided spoilers up to this point, should wait to view either until they’ve bought a ticket.
When the original trailer for this movie popped up, folks noted that Spider-Man’s mentor, Iron Man, seemed to be missing. In his place was a much stricter Nick Fury. Now we know the true reason: there’s no Iron Man anymore.
Devastated from the loss, Peter Parker attempts to tamp down his grief by temporarily abandoning his Spider-Duties and going on a backpack trip across Europe with his pals. But wouldn’t you know it, there’s trouble there too: giant beasts called Elementals have appeared and are wrecking the European landscape. To aid in battling the Elementals, Fury introduces Parker to Quentin Beck, AKA Mysterio.
Fury explains that both the Elementals and Beck were mistakenly ported here from another universe. That’s correct: Spider-Verses aren’t just for animation anymore! It might explain why none of these trailers have suggested Mysterio is a bad guy — maybe, since he’s from another universe, he truly isn’t one. (Unless there’s a mid-movie twist underfoot.)
Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man, and so does Jon Favreau as his buddy Harold “Happy” Hogan, Zendaya as MJ, and Aunt Marisa To-May. MJ’s one line in this trailer is a great one — you can’t fool MJ for long! At least, if the writer is characterizing her correctly, you can’t.
