One could argue that Sonic The Hedgehog is on more good ground right now than he has been in years. Because of his now two super successful movies, and the potential for a really good game with Sonic Frontiers, many are hoping this momentum continues. And to that end, the next Sonic animated series is going to be arriving on Netflix via Sonic Prime. Not much is known about the series, but it will feature the blue blur in classic and new locations fighting familiar and new enemies.
But aside from that, fans haven’t really gotten a good look at the show…until now. Because Netflix has dropped an “animated series preview” for not just Sonic Prime, but all the other animated series that they have coming, or are already on, Netflix right now. And if you race to the end (as Sonic would want you to), you’ll see a little tease of the show.
As you can see, the show’s clip focuses on Sonic in the Green Hill Zone, collecting rings, showing off and breaking the 4th wall as only Sonic can do…more or less. One thing that is very easy to note is how crisp the show looks. This is very much a refined 3D animated show, and that’s a good thing. Because given past shows, as well as the movie line, fans want a crisp-looking Sonic with a good voice to match, and fans may have just gotten that.
Now, to be clear on something, the Prime show is not connected to the Sonic movie universe at all. Which is not only getting a third movie, but a spinoff animated series featuring Knuckles the Echidna. This will be a different timeline/universe depending on how you want to look at it.
But, if it turns out to be good, things might just be looking up even more for Sonic.
