The highlight of today’s Voltron panel at San Diego Comic-Con was the release of the official trailer for the third season. We learned that the show will gain new episodes August 4 and also that another season would follow this October. The trailer also reveals some details about the upcoming seasons, so SPOILERS ahoy if you haven’t watched Seasons 1 or 2:

As Season 3 begins, Shiro has mysteriously vanished, leaving Voltron without a pilot. Black Lion is desperately looking for someone who can fill his shoes, now that new threats are bearing down on them, courtesy of a nasty new villain named Lotor. Here’s what the predicament looks like:

Here’s the thing, however….remember how Seasons 1 and 2 were basically one episode order carved into two pieces? That appears to be what they’ve done with Seasons 3 and 4….only this time, the episode order was shorter at the typical 13. That means Season 3 is seven episodes long, while Season 4 will be just six. But hey, this can only mean tighter plotting.

Voltron’s new episodes start premiering August 4.
