SDCC 2017: The Miraculous Phenomenon Continues Panel

For fans long awaiting news of season 2 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, the wait was finally over at Thursday’s Miraculous panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. Not only was it announced that season 2 would finally premiere only on Netflix in December 2017, but English voice director Ezra Weisz jokingly promised it would have even more episodes than season 3 of Rick and Morty. Miraculous creator Thomas Astruc sadly wasn’t able to attend this year’s panel because he is busily working on editing episodes from season 2 back in France, so he videoed a message to the full panel of fans with a quick ominous teasing shadow behind him in the editing room.

Meanwhile, for the fans in San Diego, Jeremy Zag, producer and CEO of Zag Entertainment, was among the panelists, and he personally thanked everyone for being such loyal fans of the show. The rest of the panel consisted of the voice of Marinette/Ladybug, Cristina Vee; the voice of Adrien/Cat Noir in his very first con appearance, Bryce Papenbrook; the voice of Tikki, Mela Lee; the voice of Hawkmoth, Keith Silverstein (wearing a Hawkmoth mask); and the voice of Mayor Bourgeois, Joe Ochman. As a special “thank you” to the audience, all performed part of a script for an episode from season 2 with help from the audience to fill in the voices. Supposedly, the episode exposed Marinette’s crush on Adrien to the entire world including Adrien himself, but that’s where the performance ended sadly.

In addition to season 2, new comedy slapstick silent chibi-tized shorts of Miraculous will be premiering on all platforms as well. Moreover, more Miraculous merchandise and clothing from Guess, Hot Topic, Spirit, and WeLoveFine will be appearing over the next 3-6 months. Also, just 2 hours before the panel began, a Miraculous MOVIE deal has been finalized with Lionsgate who will be distributing the film!

Also, from Zag Entertainment, the English version of Zak Storm: Super Pirate, an animated action series in collaboration with Ben 10 creator Man of Action, will also be premiering on Netflix in November. It was indeed a miraculous day for fans of Miraculous!
