Can the world handle two Lego Movies in one year? Back in February the world got to know the insecurities and anger issues of Lego Batman, and this fall, the Lego Ninjago team will make the acrobatic leap to the big screen. Do they have what it takes?
Unlike other Lego-related products they could have picked, Ninjago isn’t really a brand all movie-goers will be familiar with. It’s a fairly recent line of Lego products that mostly only kids know about. It’s also no stranger to animation, with a Ninjago TV series having completed multiple seasons already. This movie will be a bit different than the Cartoon Network show; the humor, animation style and pacing are more in line with the two Lego-branded movies that have come before it.
So the answer is no, you don’t have to be familiar with Ninjago at all to see the appeal in a Lego Ninjago Movie. This is a pretty well-done, humorous trailer where a lot of the gags hit the mark. I do have to warn you, however, that around one minute and 45 seconds in, you’ll witness a hideous gigantic monster so terrifying, so fearsome, so utterly nightmarish, that you may wet your pants at the sight of it. Fair warning!
The Lego Ninjago Movie flips into theaters October 13. Also, don’t blame me — I warned you about Meowthra.
