At one point in time, the idea of a “crossover video game” wasn’t really that appealing in the grand scale because of timing, the need to have a couple of characters that COULD crossover, and then of course, making a title that would do well with the combined characters and worlds. With Super Smash Bros., the video game industry got a literal shock to the system in how you could make a fun fighting game with legendary gaming characters and make it worthwhile. So thus, multiple crossover titles came about. And now, a rumored one that might be happening is Multiversus.
What is Multiversus? That would be a potential fighting-game title that would encompass the various properties owned by Warner Bros. Which, in this case, is a lot of properties including DC Comics, movie properties like Lord of the Rings, TV properties like Game of Thrones, cartoons like Adventure Time, Rick and Morty, Scooby-Doo, and more.
Leaks started popping up for this game a little while ago, and now, ResetEra has got yet another leaked design doc that details certain things about the title. In this case, that would be some of the stages for the game, including one based on Adventure Time, another based on Rick and Morty, and so on.
It also detailed game controls, and seemed to confirm playable fighters from Steven Universe via Garnet, and Game of Thrones via Arya Stark.
The biggest problem though is that the game hasn’t been confirmed, and there are even rumors that things might be heading towards the “cheap” in that the game could be a very basic mobile game just to try and capitalize on what happened recently with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. We say this because it was unconfirmed that Netherrealm (the team behind Mortal Kombat and Injustice) were working on this title.
We’ll have to see where things go from here.
