Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Set For July Debut

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Back in September Capcom revealed a ton of Resident Evil projects in the works, among them a new anime movie. Details were light at the time about Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, but thanks to the new trailer released today, we now know a whole lot more.

The star of the story is Leon Kennedy, who you recall had to rescue the President’s daughter in Resident Evil 4. Two years removed from the incident, he’s been invited to the White House to figure out who has been leaking internal documents, but as he’s performing that task, the lights suddenly go out. Yes, zombies have broken into the White House. Wouldn’t you know?

Leon’s gonna need help…good thing Claire Redfield just happens to also be there. She was investigating a different mystery, but Leon suspects the two could be related. They decide to team up to crack this case, and do the same to a few zombie heads while they’re at it. They’re running out of time to figure this out!

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness was developed under the close supervision of producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has overseen several of the games. He’s also been involved with three previous animated RE productions, all of them movies: Resident Evil: Degeneration, Resident Evil: Damnation, and Resident Evil: Vendetta. Eiichiro Hasumi served as director, and the score was created by Yugo Kanno, who has composed music for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Batman Ninja.

This isn’t even the only Resident Evil movie in production right now. A live-action take on the franchise completed shooting and will be released this November. There was also a bizarre non-canon series announced last year about Albert Wesker’s “twin daughters” that has hopefully been canned, as we haven’t heard anything about it since.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be released this July on Netflix.
