Marvel has officially released a new teaser, showcasing brief footage from Marvel’s upcoming original content for the Disney+ streaming platform. It includes both animated and live-action projects, including the much anticipated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, or Daredevil: Born Again. Plus, premiere dates for most of these new shows have also been announced, so barring any unforeseen issues, there’s a lot to look forward to for the next year.
Here’s the “sizzle reel” teaser:
Let’s break things down a bit. The projects below are listed in the order they are meant to premiere, granted with a focus on animation, but live-action shows are also covered.
As far as original content goes, the third and final season of Marvel’s What If…? animated series, debuts on December 22 of this year. Based on the comics with the same title, this show offers alternate scenarios and puts characters in quite different settings than they are usually found in, using the Marvel Cinematic Universe as its starting point. Most of the actors who portray these characters in live-action, also lend their voices for the animated series. The season will follow the same release schedule as with season 2 last year, and have a new episode premiering daily.
Starting out 2025 with a bang (hopefully), Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will swing into action starting January 29. This new animated series will present yet another alternate version of how Peter Parker became Spider-Man, and depict his earliest adventures as the web crawling superhero. Hudson Thames is set to voice the main character, while Colman Domingo will voice Norman Osborn. Prior to the show’s release, fans also have a tie-in comic book starting in December, which will help pass the time and perhaps foreshadow some of the stuff the show will cover.
Daredevil: Born Again (live-action) premieres on March 4, 2025. With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles of Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively from their infamous previous Daredevil show that streamed on Netflix around a decade earlier. This time, the show is meant to be part of the larger MCU, with the characters technically already popping up on the Hawkeye and She-Hulk series.
Ironheart (live-action), is set to debut on June 24, 2025. Following the adventures of Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne), reprising the role from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Eyes of Wakanda, premieres on August 6, 2025. An animated mini-series that is supposed to present the history of Wakanda and many of its past natives and warriors.
Marvel Zombies, doesn’t have an exact date announced yet, but is slated for October 2025, just in time for next Halloween. This is another animated mini-series, which will be rated “TV-MA”, which makes sense considering the subject matter. Depending on how they are depicted, zombies tend to make things a bit more gruesome.
And last but not least, Wonder Man (live-action), doesn’t have an exact date either, but is meant to premiere in December 2025. It will star Yahya Abdul Mateen II as Simon Williams and there will undoubtedly be more updates on this as we get closer to its intended debut date.
It seems things are looking up for Marvel content on Disney+ next year, and I think there is a lot to be excited about. Stay tuned for further updates, as they happen.
