Reel FX Announces Jorge Gutierrez’s “Untitled Kung Fu Space Western”

JorgeGutierrezUntitledKungFuSpaceWesternConceptIn an interview with Toonzone news last month The Book of Life director Jorge Gutierrez revealed that he was doing writing and designing for his next film, a “Mexican kung-fu movie”, and now Reel FX has formally announced the project and released the first piece of concept art for the director’s “Untitled Kung Fu Space Western”. This film is to be the first product of a new multi-year, multi-film deal Reel FX has made with Mr. Gutierrez following the release of The Book of Life.

In addition to Mr. Gutierrez as director, the new project also brings together other talent from The Book of Life: Sandra Equihua will supervise character design, while Douglas Langdale is again co-writing the script with Mr. Gutierrez. Reel FX’s Brad Booker, Chatrone LLC and Mr. Guiterrez are confirmed producers on the film.

The untitled film will focus on a group of rebel bandits that run afoul of a “legendary villain” and have to take him on for the sake of the entire galaxy. Mr. Gutierrez describes the movie as “…a funny mash-up of some of my favorite influences: ‘90s Kung Fu films, Spaghetti Westerns of the ‘60s, and the epic Space Adventures of the ‘70s, ‘80s and today.”
