Superhero Hype has reported that actor Powers Boothe passed away on Sunday in his sleep from natural causes. He was 68.

Boothe’s credits include the TV shows Phillip Marlowe, Private Eye, Deadwood, 24, Nashville, Hatfields & McCoys, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. His film credits include Red Dawn, Tombstone, Nixon, The Avengers, and was best known as Senator Roark in the 2005 adaptation of Frank Miller’s Sin City, and the 2014 sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Boothe was best known as the voice of Gorilla Grodd on Justice League and reprised the role on Justice League Unlimited, as well as voicing Red Tornado. His other voice credits include Sunder on Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Dead Justice on Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, and Lex Luthor on Superman: Brainiac Attacks.

Boothe won an Emmy for his portrayal of Reverend Jim Jones, the man who led hundreds of his followers to a mass murder-suicide by “drinking the Kool-Aid” in the 1980 TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.

He is survived by his wife and two children.
