Pokemon Bank Now Works With Sun And Moon

Good news from the Pokemon Front: the feature players of Pokemon Sun and Moon have been asking for, compatibility with Pokemon Bank, is finally a reality.

For the uninitiated, Pokemon Bank is the wondrous app that lets you store Pokemon in the cloud and even trade your monsters between games. It’s compatible with a wide swath of released titles, including Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, their sequels, Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Now as of today it is also compatible with Sun and Moon….AND the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow!

it is undeniably cool to be able to transfer Pokemon from the original games to the newest ones, even though they have to be from new save files created in the last few years. Nintendo says that when you transfer them, you’ll uncover hidden stats that can’t be displayed in Red, Blue or Yellow (because they didn’t exist yet). However, there’s one problem you need to be aware of before you go nuts: Missingno will mess up the process.

The app will outright reject Missingno, but it’ll take Pokemon that happen to be in the same box, and those Pokemon will arrive with messed-up stats and names. Currently there’s no fix for this, so unless you intentionally want this to happen (and some people do), avoid letting Missingno anywhere near Pokemon Bank.

From January 5 to October 2, anyone who uses Pokemon Bank will be given Mewnium Z, the Z-Crystal for the Mythical Pokémon Mew, When you give this Z-Crystal to a Mew which knows the move Psychic, it’ll be granted the ability to unleash the powerful Z-Move Genesis Supernova. Pokemon Bank is not a free feature; it costs $4.99 per year.
