Free remains a very good price and two games have been added to PlayStation Plus for that price – “Shadow of the Colossus” and “Sonic Forces” – for March 2020.
“Shadow of the Colossus” is the iconic action-adventure game originally released for the PlayStation 2 nearly 15 years ago and follows the travails of a young man named Wander who enters a forbidden land and must travel across a vast expanse on his trusty horse, Agro, and defeat 16 massive beings, known simply as colossi in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono. Since the landscape is minimal, there are no exploration expeditions – there are only the quests to defeat the colossi and invigorate Mono. Each of the 16 colossi can only be killed by attacking certain weak points which require specific actions to access. Wander is initially supplied with a sword and a bow and arrows but can obtain additional weapons and increase his health by eating the tail of a certain lizard. The first two colossi can be defeated outright but the remaining 14 must be defeated by using some element of the environment around them.
“Sonic Forces”, meanwhile, is the story of another iconic character – Sonic the Hedgehog – joining a resistance force [hence the title’s name] to stop Doctor Eggman. “Sonic Forces” employs three gameplay modes: “Classic”, side-scrolling [similar to the original Sega Genesis “Sonic the Hedgehog” games and “Modern”, a 3D gameplay similar to the current “Sonic Unleashed” and “Sonic Colors” as well as a mode featuring the “Avatar”, the player’s custom character.
