The Hollywood Reporter‘s Esq. weblog notes that the pending trademark infringement lawsuit between lamp-maker Luxo and Disney has been settled amicably. The suit centered on a proposed Up limited-edition Blu-ray gift set that would have included a replica of “Luxo Jr.”, the juvenile desk lamp that was the star of his own animated short and is Pixar’s iconic mascot (read Toon Zone’s earlier coverage here). A pre-order for the limited-edition set is still available at the Disney Store but seems to have been withdrawn from other retailers.

In other news, in an interview with New York magazine, Up director Pete Docter stated that he has already started on his next film for Pixar, but that it is not a sequel to Monsters Inc. Other topics he addresses in the interview include his thoughts on Up‘s Oscar chances, the New York Times article that predicted Up would fail at the box office (it has since become Pixar’s second-most successful film to date), and why Pixar’s movies all seem to end with a chase sequence.
