Paramount+ Announces New Beavis And Butt-Head Movie

It was about eighteen months ago that Paramount first announced they were developing some kind of Beavis And Butt-Head revival. At the time, the news was that two new seasons of the show would be produced for Comedy Central. It appears plans have changed behind the scenes since then.

Paramount has shifted its priorities to funneling as much of its content into its new streaming service as it can, and that goes for Highland, TX’s two dumbest residents. You might have noticed B&B appearing on Paramount+’s Super Bowl campaign last year. It was no fluke — that’s now where their new content is headed, and it appears one of the seasons has been turned into a full-fledged movie.

Mike Judge confirmed as much when he sent out the folllowing tweet:

So what is the “and more”? Another movie? Or another season? only Beavis and Butt-Head know, and though they could likely be bribed to talk with a bag of stale nachos, they can’t be found anywhere.

Beavis and Butt-Head have already starred in their own movie, the 1996 classic Beavis And Butt-Head Do America (Two Thumbs Up, said Siskel & Ebert). They also came back in 2011, albeit briefly, for a surprise eighth season of eleven episodes. In the absence of music videos, the duo riffed on MTV’s declining programming offerings instead, making hash of reality shows like Teen Mom and 16 And Pregnant. It was a brilliant season, and I waited for news of a renewal, but there was only silence. It took a decade for an answer!

But what’s ten years to the cartoon’s timeless premise? There will always be dumb teens stomping across our landscape causing mayhem. The sliding timeline has previously cast B&B as members of Generation X and then as Millennials. Now they’ll be Zoomers, proving stupidity is not exclusive to any generation.

The as-yet-untitled Beavis and Butt-Head movie will debut later this year on Paramount+.
