What’s going to happen next in One Punch Man? In terms of the anime adaption, we have eight months to speculate — the release date for One Punch Man Season 2 was announced today as April 2019. What does the new trailer released by Viz reveal?
Saitama was once an ordinary man who wanted more than anything to become a superhero. Rather than befriending All-Might (that’s a different story), he trained by himself for months, building up his punching ability. Unfortunately, he actually overdid it and now he’s so strong that anything he punches dies in one hit, sometimes outright exploding through the sheer impact of his fist. Because of this, life is boring for Saitama now and he usually goes through life with a blank expression on his face. It’s up to his allies to provide the drama and suspense in these stories, like his sidekick Genos.
Along with the new trailer comes an official synopsis of One Punch Man Season 2. It reveals a new villain, Garou, will be introduced in the upcoming episodes.
Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training,” he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance.
April 2019 is the Japanese airdate for One Punch Man Season 2, but nothing has been announced yet regarding a US simulcast, or a dub airing on Toonami afterward. Both these things will inevitably happen, but there is no real confirmation of either as of yet.
