Warner Bros Pictures has released a 2 minute, 13 second official trailer for its upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, its live-action theatrical sequel to Man of Steel and the second installment of a planned shared cinematic universe starring the superheroes of DC Comics. The video highlights considerable public controversy over the revelation of Superman and his abilities and what place, if any, he should have in the world, climaxing in an open-ended confrontation between the man of steel and a dauntless Batman.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for a March 25, 2016 release in theaters. The film is being directed Man of Steel director Zack Snyder with David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio scriptwriting, while composer Hans Zimmer is also returning to provide the musical score. In addition to Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman) and Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne / Batman), leading roles in the movie include Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth) and Gal Gadot (Diana Prince / Wonder Woman).
The release of the new trailer comes ahead of a limited IMAX theater event for the film on Monday, April 20 at 7 PM Eastern. Fans that manage to reserve a pass to attend will see an extended version of the trailer and also receive “a little swag”, according to Mr. Snyder.
